Administrator's Letter |
In 2009 the U.S. veterans' population is estimated to be 23.8 million with World War II veterans estimated to be over 2.7 million. Thirty-nine percent of the nation's veteran population is over the age of 65 and 30,000 of them live in the state of Delaware. The Delaware Veterans Home (DVH) is a fitting tribute to these Delawareans who sacrificed much to secure the freedoms we all enjoy today.
This June shall mark the beginning of the third year of operation at the Delaware Veterans Home. Over 90% of the Skilled Nursing beds in the Home are occupied by veterans who proudly call DVH their home. In a recent national customer satisfaction survey, residents and their family members ranked the Delaware Veterans Home among the top ten percent of long term care facilities - nationwide - in terms of Overall Quality.
The staff of the Delaware Veterans Home is proud of that distinction and is committed to providing the residents with the highest quality of care in a warm and friendly environment. Our competent team of professionals, support staff, and volunteers are resident-focused and devoted to the veterans who live here.
Our mission is to provide outstanding long-term care services to Delaware veterans that uphold dignity and respect while sustaining and improving their quality of life.
Our vision is to be a recognized state and national leader in long term veteran care, and a driving force in providing the best in nursing care, family wholeness, and ultimate enrichment for our heroes. Being the best means serving our residents with selfless and uncompromising loyalty, respect, integrity, and commitment.
