Assistance with daily living activities is available whenever needed. From personal grooming and hygiene to diet and exercise, our team is here to help. We adjust our level of care and support to meet each resident’s needs and preferences.

The Delaware Veterans Home boasts a strong team with deep and varied medical expertise. This team includes an on-site Medical Director, two Advanced Practice Nurses, a Wound Care/Infection Control Nurse, a Dietitian, and a visiting psychiatrist.
Additionally, your loved one will have 24-hour personal assistance from our nursing team led by our Director of Nursing. This care includes monitoring of all medication usage as well as other healthcare measures determined necessary by the medical team.

We believe that maintaining a connection with your loved one is an essential part of effective care. Our team will help you be there for your loved one as you have always been, while providing you with the freedom to care for yourself and your own needs.
We take great pride in establishing friendly, trusting relationships with our residents’ families. Our social services team will help you make a difficult transition a little more manageable.

There are no defined visitors’ hours at Delaware Veterans Home. Family members have 24-hour access to our facility. Frequent visits are encouraged in order to maintain relationships and friendships.
Our library is also equipped with computers with internet/Skype access for keeping in touch with far-flung relatives and friends.

We will take care of your loved one’s housekeeping needs. We also provide other essential services for a safe, healthy and dignified experience at our facility including laundry services available at a minimal cost.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in our main dining room. Our dietary staff coordinates the selection of all menu items to ensure nutritional value and compliance with any unique dietary needs as well as resident preferences.

From entertainment and socials to trips and trivia, we’ve got all interests covered. In addition to our daily calendar, we strive to provide our residents with special veterans programs that are not found anywhere else.
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Flag Day and Veterans Day are very special days at our Home and we celebrate in ways that our residents genuinely appreciate.

DVH collaborates with multiple hospice organizations to ensure that excellent end-of-life care is available.
The Home also has a serenity room dedicated to providing end-of-life care. This space allows for loved ones to remain comfortably by their veteran’s side in his/her final days.
